The Institute for the Advancement of Minority Health has an ongoing research on, “Examination of the Effect of Implicit Bias and Perceived Discrimination on the Provision of Health Care amongst African American Women Ages 18 and Older in Mississippi.” This research project is in two parts;

Part 1  - Addressing African American women aged 18 and older in Mississippi

To participate in a brief, anonymous survey for this part, you should:


  1. Be an African American woman who has lived in Mississippi for at least two years
  2. Be aged 18 years and older
  3. Have seen and been attended to by a healthcare provider in Mississippi within the last two years.'

The above survey is followed up by Focus Group Discussions and Key Informant Interviews that participants can voluntarily sign up for after completion of the survey. Further information on these would be provided to individuals who complete the survey and indicate interest in the subsequent parts of the research when prompted.

Part 2  - Addressing Healthcare Providers in Mississippi

To participate in a Key Informant Interviews for this part, you should:


  1. Be a healthcare provider resident in Mississippi
  2. Have been working and providing care in the state for at least two years

NOTE: Healthcare providers can be nurse, physician, specialist, physical therapist, social worker




Each stage of the research (survey, focus group, key informant interview) is incentivized.
