What is RMOMS? 

The Rural Maternal Obstetric and Management Strategies (RMOMS) is a collaborative initiative focused on improving maternal and infant health outcomes in the MS Delta. RMOMS works by strengthening partnerships among healthcare providers, public health agencies, and community organizations to ensure coordinated, high-quality care for women before, during, and after pregnancy

The RMOMS Program is open to any pregnant individuals who is:

  • 20 weeks or less in gestations
  • Between the ages of 16-45
  • Reside in the following counties: Bolivar, Sunflower, Coahoma, Issaquena, Leflore, Washington, or Sharkey
  • Utilize the following clinical sites: Delta Health Center, Delta Health System, and Northwest MS Regional Medical Center

Services Provided 

RMOMS supports communities and healthcare systems through:

  • Care coordination and referral support
  • Remote monitoring to check blood pressure, glucose,and weight (twice a week) at home
  • Nutritional advice and support
  • Wellness support
  • Transportation assistance
  • Provider education and training (Community Advisor Board - CAB)
  • Data-driven quality improvement initiatives
  • Community outreach and engagement (Community Baby Showers)
  • Support for maternal and infant health programs
  • Access to Baby Depot (Free Breast pump, formula, baby food, diapers, wipes, and feminine hygiene products 
Community Advisory Board (CAB) Sessions

Community Advisory Board (CAB) sessions are held monthly to gather input, share updates, and guide RMOMS initiatives. These sessions provide a platform for RMOMS participants to voice their opinion. We meet the 4th Thursday of each month at 6 pm via Zoom.
